We often think of habits as bad things we do that need to change, like having late night snacks or checking your cell phone or social media first thing in the morning. But habits can also be helpful behaviors we have like drinking water throughout the day or going to bed at the same time every night.
Habits and unconscious behavior can also be learned when we experience injury or pain. Our brain and body adjusts to protect us from making injury worse, creating new injury, or experiencing pain with movement. And once that happens, habits continue even after injury has healed and pain subsides.
The only way to break these newly formed habits is to intentionally retrain your brain and body.
And like any habit, it’ll take 500+hours, or about 21 days, of new intentional habit to fire up the process.

Founder of SassFactor Fitness. A growing community of fitness enthusiasts who’ve experienced injuries, illness or other life events that have interfered with fitness.
As an athlete and first responder, I’ve suffered multiple sports and work injuries. And as I’ve gotten older, the gap between rehab and performance grew, making it harder and harder to recover.
Yet, I have made the difficult journey back to former levels of fitness several times, while experiencing chronic pain, limited capacity, and even after “a certain age.”
It all started with a change in mindset, behavior and habit.
Now I want to share what I’ve learned with you so that you can reach your health and fitness goals! I can’t wait to take this journey with you...
